Dr. Saul M. Betesh, MD, is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist specializing in advanced cataract surgery, corneal disease management, and refractive surgical procedures. He brings a high level of surgical precision, state-of-the-art diagnostic expertise, and a patient-first approach to The Eye Professionals team.

Education & Advanced Medical Training

Dr. Betesh earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at Nassau University Medical Center, followed by an intensive surgical externship at the prestigious Columbia Harkness Eye Institute.

To further hone his expertise in specialized eye care, Dr. Betesh completed a specialized fellowship in Cornea & Refractive Surgery at the Cohen Eye Institute, where he focused on complex anterior segment procedures, advanced corneal transplant techniques, and laser vision correction.

Dr. Betesh provides both routine and complex medical and surgical eye care, including:

Advanced Cataract Surgery: Custom intraocular lens (IOL) options (premium multifocal, toric, and extended depth of focus) and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Corneal Disease & Surgery: Management of keratoconus, corneal dystrophies, dry eye syndrome, and full and partial-thickness corneal transplants (PK/DSAEK).

Refractive Surgery: Laser vision correction including LASIK, PRK, and EVO Implantable Collamer Lenses (ICL).

Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS): Micro-stents and targeted therapies (iDose, Kahook Dual Blade, Hydrus) alongside standard glaucoma management.

In-Office Laser Procedures: YAG capsulotomy, Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT), and Laser Peripheral Iridotomy (LPI).

Ocular Surface & Eyelid Procedures: Pterygium excision with surface reconstruction and chalazion removal.
